Nuevo Laredo, Mexico -- (Sports Network) - Jorge Linares retained his WBA Super Featherweight belt with an eighth round KO over Josafat Perez on Saturday.

Linares (27-0, 18 KOs) was on top for most of the fight and referee Luis Pabon waved off the one-sided affair at the 1:40 mark of the eight round to protect Perez (12-2)

It was Linares' first defense of the WBA 130-pound belt after previously holding the WBC featherweight strap.
