Police released the names of the missing people, but as recovery operations continue the list is shortening as bodies are slowly found and extracted from the murky Mississippi.

Those still missing are:

Vera Peck was driving with her 21-year-old son Richard Chit at the time of the collapse.

Greg Jolstad, 45, was working on the bridge construction project at the time of the collapse.

Christina Sacorafas was driving to dance class. She left a voicemail message saying she was running late due to traffic on 35W.

Scott Sathers, 30, was taking his usual route home from work.

Rescue workers and concerned families have connected these people to the bridge, police said.

Police say that this is not a definitive list, and that there may be more people missing who have not yet been connected to the bridge site, or have not been reported as missing.

Some license plate numbers recorded by rescue and recovery workers have not been linked to identified missing persons or survivors.

Three of the missing persons have since been found dead. Sadiya Adam Sahal, 22, and her 22-month-old daughter Hanah Sahal were identified as having died from blunt force injuries. Peter Hausmann, 47, drowned.
