Chestnut Hill, MA -- (Sports Network) - Tyrese Rice scored 28 points and dished out nine assists to lead the Boston College Eagles to an 82-70 win over the St. John's Red Storm in the East Regional final of the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament. Joe Trapani also added 19 points for the Eagles (3-0), while Rakim Sanders chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Red Storm (2-1) was led by Sean Evans and Paris Horne, who scored 14 points apiece. Anthony Mason Jr. also chipped in with 12 points and six assists, while Malik Boothe registered 10 points in a losing effort. The Eagles got off to a strong start, shooting 53.1 percent from the floor in the first half, to take a 43-40 lead at the break. BC kept the pressure on in the second stanza, holding SJU to just 12-of-33 shooting from the floor. The Eagles also drilled 13-of-18 free-throw attempts en route to a 12-point victory. The Eagles dominated the Red Storm on the boards, out-rebounding SJU 42-28 on the night.
