Chestnut Hill, MA -- (Sports Network) - Joe Trapani scored a game-high 20 points, as the Boston College Eagles knocked off the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds, 90-57, in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Conte Forum. Tyrese Rice chipped in with 16 points and six assists for the Eagles (2-0), who opened their season with a 15-point win over Central Connecticut Friday night. Corey Raji scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Josh Southern finished with 12 points and nine boards. Jamal Barney paced Loyola (1-2) with 18 points off the bench. Starting guard Brett Harvey struggled from the floor, shooting just 3-of-12, including 1-of-7 from beyond the arc, and finished with 12 points. Brian Rudolph scored 11 in the loss. BC jumped out to a 42-31 halftime lead after holding Loyola to 33.3-percent shooting from the floor in the first half. The Eagles also held a 16-4 scoring edge from the foul line. The Eagles kept the defensive pressure on in the second half while shooting an efficient 54.8 percent from the field, including 6-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc. The Eagles held a decisive 46-30 advantage on the boards for the game. Next up, they'll take on St. John's in the East Regional finals on Tuesday.
