POSTED: 9:01 pm CDT March 13, 2008

(Sports Network) - Anthony Morrow scored 18 points to lead the seventh-seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to a 94-76 win over the 10th-seeded Virginia Cavaliers in opening round action of the ACC Tournament.

Jeremis Smith also added 18 points for Georgia Tech (15-16), which will move on to face the second-seeded Duke Blue Devils in Friday's quarterfinal round. Maurice Miller and Zack Peacock also chipped in with 14 points apiece, while Alade Aminu netted 11 points for the Yellow Jackets.

Sean Singletary paced Virginia (15-15), tallying 20 points and 10 assists, while Mamadi Diane chipped in with 18 points in the loss.

The Yellow Jackets shot 17-of-30 from the floor in the first half to take a 44-42 lead at the break.

Georgia Tech pulled away in the second stanza, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor en route to the 18-point win.

Three-point shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as the Yellow Jackets shot 13-of-24 from three-point range, compared to a 9-of-23 effort from the Cavaliers.

The Yellow Jackets have now won four of their last five games, and the lone loss during that span came over the same group of Cavaliers that they crushed tonight.

Tech has won this tournament three times, but the most recent championship came back in 1993.
