Los Angeles, CA -- (Sports Network) - Darren Collison scored 16 points, including two clutch free throws late in the game, to lead the fourth-ranked UCLA Bruins to a 64-59 victory over the feisty Miami-Ohio RedHawks at Pauley Pavilion.

Neither team ever led by more than five in the contest, and the Bruins will move on to face Michigan at Madison Square Garden in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

Josh Shipp scored 16 points, and Michael Roll hit three long distance shots to account for his nine points for UCLA (2-0), which advanced to the Final Four last season for the third consecutive year.

Michael Bramos had a game-high 22 points for the RedHawks (1-1), who defeated Weber State to open up their season. Nick Winbush added eight points, and Kenny Hayes had only two points one day after scoring 24.

Neither team could go on a run for much of the second half, and Hayes' driving layup with 2:55 cut the Bruins' lead to two at 58-56. Shipp missed a fade-away jumper on the ensuing possession, but a foul was called on the rebound attempt and Alfred Aboya hit two free throws to restore a four-point edge.

Bramos' jump shot on the next possession was blocked by Shipp, but Miami got the ball back as the ball went out of bounds. Hayes missed a three, but Bramos missed the front end of a 1-and-1 after he was fouled on the rebound.

Collison's jumper went in-and-out, and Eric Pollitz drained a three-pointer with 54.0 seconds left to make it a 60-59 game. Collison was fouled by Pollitz as he attempted to drive to the basket, and Collison drained both free throws to make it 62-59 with 21.0 seconds on the clock.

Hayes three-point attempt with 6.9 seconds left clanked off the rim, and Shipp drained a couple free throws with 5.8 ticks remaining to seal the win.

The RedHawks got off to an early 9-4 lead in the first four minutes, as Bramos had seven of the early points for Miami.

But UCLA came right back with an 11-2 burst to take a 15-11 advantage. Collison scored four quick points, and Nikola Dragovic's layup gave the Bruins the lead. Michael Roll hit a three, and Dragovic made another layup to cap the run.

Fletcher's two free throws with 3:37 left in the half made it a one-point deficit for the RedHawks at 24-23, and Bramos' layup sent Miami into the break down only 29-27.

Winbush and Bramos traded three-pointers early in the second, and Winbush hit his second three of the half with 15:43 left to give the RedHawks a 38-36 lead.

Roll's three with 11:44 gave UCLA a one-point edge, and Collison's layup through traffic made it 47-44.

Game Notes

It was the first-ever meeting between the schools...UCLA defeated Prairie View, 82-58, in the opener of the tournament Wednesday...Miami finished 17-16 last season, including a 9-7 mark in the MAC East division...The Bruins will play the Wolverines on November 20.
