Charlottesville, VA -- (Sports Network) - Sean Singletary scored 22 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers to an 80-76 win over the second-seeded Old Dominion Monarchs in second round play of the College Basketball Invitational at John Paul Jones Arena. Mamadi Diane added 14 points for the Cavaliers (17-15), while Jamil Tucker netted 11 in the win. Jeff Jones and Laurynas Mikalauskas each chipped in with 10 points for Virginia, which will move on to face Houston in the semifinals on Wednesday. Brian Henderson led the way for ODU (18-16) scoring a game-high 26 points in a losing effort. Gerald Lee added 16 points for the Monarchs, while Frank Hassell netted 10 in the victory. ODU got off to a fast start, shooting 50 percent from the floor in the first half, to take a 37-29 lead at the break. Virginia stormed back in the second stanza, knocking down 19-of-32 field goal attempts, including seven three-pointers, on its way to the four-point victory. The Virginia bench was the difference in the contest as the Cavaliers' reserves outscored the ODU bench 41-17 on the night.
