(Sports Network) - Daniel Thomas ran for 185 yards and a touchdown as the Kansas State Wildcats downed the Kansas Jayhawks 17-10 in a Big 12 matchup at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The win kept Kansas State (6-4, 4-2 Big 12) in the running for a spot in the Big 12 championship game. The Wildcats are unbeaten in five home starts this season.

The Wildcats generated just 332 yards in total offense, but took advantage of three Kansas turnovers. Grant Gregory was 7-for-16 through the air for the Wildcats for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Todd Reesing was 27-for-41 through the air for Kansas, (5-4, 1-4), which lost for the fourth straight time after starting the season with five straight wins.

Josh Cherry opened the scoring for the Wildcats with a 47-yard field goal early in the second quarter.

Kansas took the lead midway through the period when Todd Reesing hit Dezmon Briscoe with a 17-yard scoring pass.

Kansas State got the lead back just before the quarter ended when Gregory found Lamark Brown with a 31-yard touchdown throw that gave the Wildcats a 10-7 halftime lead.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 17-7 on the first possession of the second half when Thomas scored on a five-yard run to cap an 84-yard, nine-play drive.

Jacob Branstetter's 46-yard field goal brought the Jayhawks to within a touchdown at 17-10 with just over five minutes left in the game.
