(Sports Network) - Minnesota used three field goals from Joel Monroe, as the Golden Gophers posted a 16-7 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in Big Ten action at the Metrodome.

Adam Weber threw for 274 yards on 22-of-37 passing for Minnesota (5-1, 1-1 BigTen), while DeLeon Eskridge led the squad on the ground with 74 rushing yards.

As for the Hoosiers (2-3, 0-2), they were led by quarterback Kellen Lewis, who threw for 167 yards in the loss. Ben Chappell, who also saw time under center, stepped in and completed just one of his three throws, but that completion went for a long touchdown.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Golden Gophers jumped out to a 7-0 lead with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Shady Salamon.

Indiana evened the score late in the frame when Chappell hit Marcus Thigpen with a 77-yard scoring strike.

Minnesota pushed its lead to 13-7 in the third frame, as Monroe connected on field goals from 29 and 42 yards away.

Monroe put the game out of reach, as the kicker nailed a 38-yard field goal in the final seconds of regulation. The successful kick sealed the deal for Minnesota, which walked away with a nine-point victory.
