Missoula, MT -- (Sports Network) - Chase Reynolds rushed for 233 yards and two scores on 38 carries, as Montana posted a 31-13 victory over Texas State in the opening round of the FCS playoffs at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Cole Bergquist was 13-of-23 passing for 177 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown pass to Marc Mariani, who finished with four grabs for 49 yards for Montana (12-1), which made its FCS record-tying 19th postseason appearance, including its 16th trip in a row, avoiding a repeat of its first-round exit last year against Wofford. Bergquist also ran for 54 yards and scored on the ground, as the Grizzlies racked up 463 yards of total offense. The Grizzlies will next play Weber State, which knocked off Cal Poly in the first-round nightcap. Bradley George threw for 259 yards and a score on 21-of-33 passing, while Cameron Luke caught five balls for 75 yards and a touchdown. Mishak Rivas had five catches for 56 yards for Texas State (8-5), which made only its second FCS playoff appearance in school history in the loss. In 2005, the Bobcats advanced all the way to the semifinals as a No. 4 seed. The Bobcats had a 10-0 lead after one quarter, but the Grizzlies scratched their way back, with Bergquist throwing a 14-yard TD just before halftime and scoring on a 21-yard run early in the third quarter. Reynolds three-yard score late in the third gave Montana a 21-10 lead, and the Bobcats could only muster a field goal in the second half on the way to defeat. Reynolds added a one-yard score, and Brody McKnight kicked a 37-yard field goal in the fourth.
