NCAA Game Summary - Eastern Illinois At Southern Illinois

POSTED: 5:26 pm CST November 24, 2007

(Sports Network) - Nick Hill threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another score, to power fourth-seeded Southern Illinois to a 30-11 win over Eastern Illinois in the first round of the FCS playoffs.

Hill went 24-of-30 passing with no interceptions for the Salukis (11-1), who will play Massachusetts in the quarterfinals on December 1. John Randle led the team's rushing attack with 72 yards on 12 carries, and Alan Turner caught six passes for 75 yards and a score.

Bodie Reeder completed 22-of-33 passes with one touchdown, but threw for just 113 yards and had an interception for the Panthers (8-4). Ademola Adeniji rushed 22 times for 76 yards, and tight end Jordan Campanella caught three passes for 27 yards and a score.

Turner caught a 21-yard pass from Hill nearly five minutes into the game to get Southern Illinois on board, and Ryan Kernes added a second on an eight- yard pass from Hill with 2:59 left in the first quarter.

Kyle Dougherty kicked two field goals in the final two minutes of the second quarter, of 18 and 21 yards, to put the Salukis up 20-0 going into halftime. That was all the lead Southern Illinois needed, as it didn't let its intrastate opponent back in the game.
