NCAA Game Summary - Tulsa At Marshall

(Sports Network) - Tarrion Adams carried the ball 30 times for 123 yards and three scores to lead the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 38-35 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Conference USA clash at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Quarterback David Johnson also had a big day for Tulsa (10-2, 7-1 CUSA), completing 21-of-33 pass attempts for 313 yards and two touchdowns. Damaris Johnson was Johnson's favorite target, hauling in eight passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. With the win and Houston's loss to Rice, Tulsa locks up the conference's West Division crown.

The Herd (4-8, 3-5) was paced by quarterback Brian Anderson, who completed 14- of-19 pass attempts for 177 yards and three scores. Chubb Small had a respectable day on the ground for Marshall, carrying the ball 10 times for 91 yards and a score.

Marshall took a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter when Anderson hooked up with Court Edmonson for a 19-yard touchdown strike.

Tulsa responded on its ensuing drive with a one-yard run by Adams.

Adams got back on the board early in the second quarter with another one- yard run to give the Golden Hurricanes a 14-7 lead.

But Marshall tied the game on its next play from scrimmage, as Small ripped off a 69-yard rushing touchdown.

Tulsa responded on its next drive, when Johnson and Johnson connected from 15 yards out to make it a 21-14 contest.

Anderson marched his team down the field on its final possession of the first half, firing a 42-yard touchdown strike to Darius Passmore to tie the game at 21-21 at the half.

The Golden Hurricane broke the tie early in the third quarter, when Johnson found Charles Clay from two yards out for the score.

Marshall answered immediately, as Anderson and Passmore hooked up again, this time from 12 yards out to tie the game at 28-28.

Tulsa went back to the ground for its next score, when Adams powered his way in from six yards out to give his team the lead.

The Herd tied the game on its last possession of the third quarter, when Terrel Edwards sprinted 53 yards for a score to tie the game at 35-35 at the end of three.

Tulsa finally got its defense together in the fourth quarter and needed just a 22-yard field goal from Jarod Tracy to give the Golden Hurricane the three- point victory.

With the win, Tulsa locks up the Conference USA West Division crown and will go on to play East Carolina in the conference championship next Saturday. Marshall accumulated a season-high 437 yards of total offense.
