Yankees Reach Agreement With Vizcaino

POSTED: 7:02 pm CST January 16, 2007

(Sports Network) - The Yankees signed relief pitcher Luis Vizcaino to a one-year deal on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration for the righthander.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vizcaino, who was acquired from Arizona in the Randy Johnson trade January 9th, posted a 4-6 record with a 3.58 ERA in 70 games last season for the Diamondbacks. He held left-handed batters to a paltry .163 average in the process.

In an eight-year major-league career, the native of the Dominican Republic is 25-23 with a 4.24 ERA in 408 games with the A's, Brewers, White Sox, and D- Backs.

With the signing, the Yankees have no other players headed for arbitration.
