New York Yankees (50-34) At Minnesota Twins (43-42), 1:10 P.m.

(Sports Network) - The New York Yankees try to complete a season sweep of the Minnesota Twins this afternoon when they wrap up a three-game set in their final game at the Metrodome.

The Yankees improved to 6-0 this season against the Twins on Wednesday, as A.J. Burnett threw 6 1/3 strong innings and Alex Rodriguez's RBI single in the fifth was the eventual game-winner in a 4-3 victory.

Burnett (8-4) gave up two runs on seven hits to get the win, his third in a row. Mariano Rivera retired the final four batters to earn his 22nd save of the campaign.

"Obviously I didn't have a hook the whole game," said Burnett. "Control was off big time, but I was able to regroup and make pitches when I needed to."

Brett Gardner drove in a pair of runs for the Yankees, who won for the 12th time in 14 tries overall and for the seventh consecutive time on the road. Nick Swisher was responsible for the other run in the win, while Derek Jeter went 2-for-5 and scored on Rodriguez's single in the fifth.

Anthony Swarzak (2-3), who started in place of the fever-ridden Glen Perkins, took the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Joe Mauer went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and drove in two runs for the Twins, who have dropped three of five.

Getting the call for the Yankees today will be right-hander Alfredo Aceves, who will be making his first start of the season. Aceves, perhaps New York's most effective reliever not named Rivera this season, will be starting in place of Chien-Ming Wang, who was placed on the disabled list on Sunday.

Aceves, who beat the Twins in back-to-back games in mid-April, has appeared in 21 games for the Yankees this season and is 5-1 with a 2.03 earned run average.

Minnesota will counter with lefty Francisco Liriano, who is 4-8 with a 5.49 ERA. Liriano did not get a decision on Saturday against Detroit, as he allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings. He also fanned seven, but did not factor in the decision of his team's 4-3 win.

Liriano did not get a decision earlier in the year against the Yankees, surrendering just a run and four hits in six innings back on May 15. In two outings (one start) against them he has pitched to a 1.17 ERA.

New York has won 10 of its last 12 against the Twins dating back to last season. Barring a postseason matchup, this will be the Yankees last visit to the Metrodome, which will be replaced next season by brand new Target Field.
