NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers At Philadelphia

POSTED: 11:29 pm CST December 3, 2008

(Sports Network) - Kobe Bryant scored 10 of his game-high 32 points in the fourth quarter, as the Lakers quickly got back in the win column with a 114-102 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.

Bryant, who attended high school just outside Philadelphia, hit 12-of-20 from the field, hauled in six rebounds and dished out four assists in the win.

Pau Gasol added 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Andrew Bynum contributed 18 points for the Lakers, who had their seven-game win streak snapped by a last- second tip-in against Indiana on Tuesday.

Andre Miller deposited a team-high 26 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists for the Sixers, who have dropped five of six. Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young chipped in 19 and 17 points, respectively, in defeat.

Offseason acquisition Elton Brand finished with three points on 1-of-7 shooting from the field in 25 minutes of action.

"It was a tough team that we played tonight," Sixers head coach Maurice Cheeks said. "They are fueled by Kobe Bryant but are also fueled by their defense. They kept us off of our offensive sets and kept us running up and down the floor."

The Lakers blew a 16-point fourth-quarter lead against the Pacers and led 85-69 with 12 minutes to play against the Sixers.

Philly tried its best at duplicating Indiana's feat, as a pair of Lou Williams three-pointers, an Iguodala slam and a Young reverse layup made it 103-95 with 3 1/2 minutes remaining.

After a Gasol free throw and Miller layup, Bryant rattled off eight straight Laker points, capped by a long jumper for a 12-point lead with a minute left that sealed the win.

The Sixers came out hot and led by 10 midway through the first quarter. But a 24-6 Lakers run capped by a Trevor Ariza dunk in transition pushed the visitors to a 31-25 edge after a quarter of play.

"We're a very patient team," Bryant said. "We don't rattle easily. We've been through a lot of wars and battles. When the team jumps out early, we just collect ourselves and go back and execute and think about what they're doing and counter them."

A pair of six-point stretches from Philly in the second kept them game from getting out of hand, but LA still held a 61-51 lead at the break.

The Sixers scored seven straight in the middle portion of the third to get within five and even had a chance to make it a one-possession game when Brand missed an easy putback in the lane.

The Lakers responded a little later with a 14-1 run behind Bryant, who fed Gasol for an uncontested dunk, stole the ball on the ensuing possession and hit a three in the corner for an 83-64 with 1:59 to play in the quarter.

Game Notes:

The Lakers finish up a three-game road trip at Washington on Friday. The Sixers head to Detroit to face the Pistons the same day...The Lakers are 6-1 on the road this year...After losing seven in a row at Philadelphia, the Lakers have won there the past two seasons...Williams finished with 15 points in the loss, while LA's Vladimir Radmanovic had 11 points, all in the first quarter.
