Knicks Bring Back Robinson, Lee

POSTED: 1:10 pm CDT September 25,2009

(Sports Network) - The New York Knicks have re-signed guard Nate Robinson and forward David Lee

Terms of the deals were not disclosed. Earlier this week, Newsday had reported Robinson's deal to be for one year, while various reports indicated that Lee's contract was also for one year.

Robinson appeared in 74 games, starting 11, for the Knicks last season and averaged 17.2 points, 4.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds. He finished third in the voting for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award and is probably best-known for winning the Slam Dunk Contest for a second time during last year's All- Star weekend.

"We are very happy to have reached an agreement with Nate," said Knicks president of basketball operations Donnie Walsh. "Nate established himself as one of the top reserves in the game last season and we expect him to play a key role for us this season."

Over his four seasons in the NBA, all with New York, the University of Washington product has averaged 12.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists over 282 games.

Lee averaged career highs of 16.9 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in a career-high 81 games last season. He posted a league-best 65 double-doubles, while ranking third in the NBA in rebounding and seventh in field-goal percentage.

"While this was a long process, we always wanted David to remain in New York and we are very happy to have him re-signed," said Walsh. "David really flourished playing for Coach D'Antoni last year and we once again expect him to play a big role for us this season."

Lee was selected by the Knicks with the 30th overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft. The Florida product owns career averages of 10.9 points with 9.0 rebounds in 287 games over four seasons with New York.

The Knicks also signed forward Marcus Landry, who averaged 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 121 games over four seasons at Wisconsin. Guard Ron Howard was also signed by New York. He averaged 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists with Fort Wayne of the NBA Development League last season.
