NBA Game Summary - Golden State At New York

POSTED: 11:04 pm CST November 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - David Lee set career-highs with 37 points and 21 rebounds and Chris Duhon set a franchise record with 22 assists, as the Knicks used an offensive explosion to beat the Warriors, 138-125, in a record- setting night at Madison Square Garden.

Duhon added 12 points for the Knicks, who won for just the second time in their last seven games. Richie Guerin had the old franchise record of 21 assists set on December 12, 1958.

"You just start to see everything," said Duhon. "After a while they're going to make adjustments and somebody else will be open. I started reading what they're doing on defense. I love sharing the ball, I love getting those guys involved. That's what a point guard is supposed to do."

Al Harrington, who was traded from the Warriors for Jamal Crawford last week, had a season-high 36 points and 12 boards. Wilson Chandler and Quentin Richardson had 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Corey Maggette tied a season-high with 32 points and hauled in 12 rebounds for the Warriors, who have dropped six straight games. Crawford had 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists against his former team. C.J. Watson had 23 points and Andris Biedrins had 16 in defeat.

"It was definitely weird playing here for the first time since the trade," said Crawford.

The Knicks led 39-33 after the first 12 minutes.

Lee, who was one of four Knicks in double figures by the half, had 20 points and 10 rebounds at the intermission, as New York set a franchise record for points in a half at the present Madison Square Garden with its 82-64 lead.

"It's a great feeling, it seems easy after a while," said Lee. "We got in a great flow and hopefully we can keep that going."

The all-time franchise record for points in a half is 84.

"It was a great half, tonight everything was going our way," said Lee.

The Knicks kept on scoring in the third quarter, en route to a 116-96 lead heading into the final frame.

Despite leading by as many as 22 points in the fourth, a Watson jumper and a Kelenna Azubuike free throw brought the Warriors within nine points, 132-123, just past the two-minute mark. However, the Knicks would not let their lead dwindle any further and held on for the win.

Game Notes:

It was Lee's fifth consecutive double-double. Lee is averaging 20 points and 14 rebounds since Zach Randolph was traded. Lee became the first Knick to record a 30-20 game since Patrick Ewing had 36-21 on January 23, 1994 against Philadelphia...Golden State scoring leader Stephen Jackson missed the game with a sprained left wrist...The Knicks only used seven players, but their 43 second-quarter points was a MSG record...New York was without the services of enigmatic guard Stephon Marbury. The Knicks suspended the former All- Star for one game, without pay, for refusing to play against Detroit. Marbury has not played this season and has been at odds with new coach Mike D'Antoni, who had apparently planned to use the Brooklyn native in a very limited role this year. According to the New York Post, Wednesday was the second instance in which Marbury was asked to play and refused...Golden State swept the home-and-home season series between the two clubs last season and had won six of its last seven games with the Knicks...The Warriors had also won five of their last seven games at MSG.
