POSTED: 3:08 pm CDT July 17, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves re-signed restricted free-agent forward Craig Smith on Thursday.

The T'Wolves drafted Smith in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft, and last season he averaged 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 77 appearances.

"Craig brings tremendous energy, hard-nosed post play and depth to our roster," said Wolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale. "We look forward to his continued improvement, and having him as a member of our core group of players for the future."
