A photo taken at a Michigan dog contest has landed a boxer with an appearance on the "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" television show.

Brandy, a fawn boxer, doesn't do any dog tricks, but she does have a 17-inch tongue.

Brandy's owner, John Scheid, says a film crew for the show taped several of Brandy's exploits, including letting her eat pudding from a bowl placed some 13 inches away. The show is set to air tonight at 8 p.m. on cable station TBS.

When the St. Clair Shores, Mich., family bought the dog from a local breeder in 1995, the breeder told them Brandy would grow into her long tongue. Scheid says it hasn't worked out that way because the entire tongue won't fit in the dog's mouth.

In the summer, he says she gets tan lines on her tongue. He says no one knows why her tongue's so long, but the dog is healthy.

On the Web site www.tungdog.com, Scheid says that he'd love to show Brandy off nationally like on "The Tonight Show" or "The Late Show With David Letterman."

He says that Brandy has been a big part of the family for six years and "every day there is something she does that we will never forget."
