I-35W DETOUR ROUTES ANNOUNCED

Commuters are urged to follow these designated routes during morning and afternoon rush hours as a result of road closures surrounding the Interstate 35W Bridge collapse near downtown Minneapolis.

For I-35W North of Metro Area

Highway 280 will be the primary route to replace northbound and southbound I-35W

Highway 280 will be converted to a temporary freeway with no traffic signals

Access to and from Broadway Ave and County Road B will be closed; the traffic signals at these Highway 280 locations will remain green for northbound and southbound Highway 280 thru traffic

Southbound 35W will be allowed to advance only to Stinson/New Brighton Blvd
Access to northbound I-35W will be allowed from Stinson/New Brighton Blvd., and from no points south of them

Portable changeable messages signs will display “maintain two lanes”

Signage on WB 36 and SB I-35W will display “Local traffic use Stinson Blvd; thru traffic use Hwy 280” The ramp from Hennepin Ave to SB I-35W will be closed to traffic

For I-35W South of Metro Area

All northbound I-35W traffic must exit at eastbound I-94.
