MINNEAPOLIS -- The American Red Cross has reported a bump in blood donations since Wednesday's tragedy.

Anyone over the age of 17 who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health and is eligible to donate blood once every 8 weeks, although there are some exceptions. If you suffered a cold or flu in the last week or have taken antibiotics in the last 24 hours you are ineligible.

Physicians recommend that you eat a meal at sometime during the six hours before donating, and they also stress that donors should have a full night's rest within 24 hours of donating.
