Republican candidates claimed nearly every state constitutional office Tuesday night, with incumbent Attorney General Mike Hatch the lone DFLer to win statewide election, the same situation as four years ago.
After 1 a.m., Hatch's Republican rival Tom Kelly conceded the race with less than one-half the vote counted.
With more than 97 percent of precincts reporting, Hatch was leading by 13 percentage points -- 54 percent to 41 percent -- when Kelly conceded.
"For the last 16 months, I've traveled the state of Minnesota trying to persuade people it's time for a new attorney general. Tonight, they decided they did not agree with me," Kelly said.
The remaining statewide races were declared after 1 a.m.
Republican incumbent Mary Kiffmeyer was beating DFLer Hubert H. "Buck" Humphrey in the race for Secretary of State race by nearly 75,000 votes with more than 2 million votes cast.
Republican Patricia Anderson Awada held a 23,000 vote lead over DFLer Carol Johnson in the State Auditor race at that same time in a race in which no winner had been declared at 6:30 a.m.
