Rams Place TE McMichael On IR

POSTED: 3:07 pm CDT October 6, 2008

(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams have placed tight end Randy McMichael on injured reserve because of a broken right tibia and ligament damage.

McMichael was hurt in the Rams' last game on September 28 against Buffalo. The team had a bye last week and decided to make the move on Monday.

"He's got a torn ligament, which is the biggest concern," said interim head coach Jim Haslett on Monday. "The bone will heal, but we're more concerned with the torn ligament, which will take a little bit more time."

McMichael was the team's third-leading receiver with 11 catches for 139 yards.

Joe Klopfenstein will take McMichael's place in the starting lineup. He has one catch for eight yards.

The Rams also signed tight end Daniel Fells off the Tampa Bay practice squad to take McMichael's place on the active roster.
