Phoenix, AZ -- (Sports Network) - Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin is out indefinitely after having surgery on a fractured facial bone he suffered in a helmet-to-helmet hit last Sunday against the New York Jets.Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt said that the surgery was performed on Thursday and was told by Dr. Reed Day, who performed the surgery, that it "went well" and that a hockey player who had the same procedure was able to play 10 days later. The injury occurred when Boldin was in the end zone trying to haul in a pass from Kurt Warner with 27 seconds left in the contest when Jets safety Eric Smith collided with him on a helmet-to-helmet hit. Boldin crumpled to the turf, motionless for several minutes, but fully conscious. He was tended to by medical staffs and brought off the field on a backboard and was taken to the hospital for observation. The league suspended Smith one game and fined him $50,000 for the jarring hit. Boldin has caught 27 balls for 366 yards and five touchdowns in four games this season.
