Red Wings Re-Sign Downey

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings re-signed forward Aaron Downey to a one-year, two-way undisclosed contract Wednesday.

Downey signed with Detroit last season following a training camp tryout and appeared in 56 games for the Red Wings, registering three assists and 116 penalty minutes.

In 239 career NHL games over parts of eight seasons with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit, Downey has collected seven goals, nine assists and 487 penalty minutes.
