Wild Waive Veteran C Parrish

POSTED: 2:15 am CDT July 30, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Wild placed forward Mark Parrish on unconditional waivers Tuesday, setting the stage for his imminent departure.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Parrish, 31, was placed on waivers due to salary cap concerns. He was due to make $2.65 million this upcoming season, and general manager Doug Risebrough told the newspaper that the Wild were looking to create some cap flexibility.

If Parrish clears waivers, the Wild are expected to buy out the remaining three years of his contract.

The Bloomington, Minnesota native scored 16 goals in 66 games for Minnesota last season, and has tallied just 35 times over two seasons with the Wild. In nine NHL seasons, Parrish has 208 goals and 164 assists for 372 points in 660 games with the Wild, Kings, Islanders and Panthers.
