NHL Game Summary - Minnesota At Montreal

(Sports Network) - Niklas Backstrom stopped all 25 shots he faced as the Minnesota Wild edged the Montreal Canadiens, 3-0, in the final preseason tuneup for both teams.

Marian Gaborik, Stephane Veilleux and Antti Miettinen each scored for the Wild, while James Sheppard chipped in with two assists.

Carey Price allowed three goals on 25 shots to take the loss for Montreal.

Minnesota will open up its regular season at home against the Boston Bruins next Saturday, while Montreal opens its 100th campaign on the road against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.

Coming off a career-worst performance in his last outing, Niklas Backstrom turned aside all 22 shots he faced to record his third shutout of the season, as the Minnesota Wild blanked the St. Louis Blues, 4-0, at the Xcel Energy Center.
