New Netcams: August 13

Our experiment having viewers rate the new netcams didn't get the warm reception that we'd hoped -- so it wasn't worth doing it another time. But you can always feel free to send in your opinions about the cams we feature; there are so many that we don't always notice when one gets a substantial quality update (or goes offline, in some cases).

Drop us a note anytime with new cams or comments on the old ones -- but remember that we feature hundreds of cams, so make sure you specify which one you're talking about and what state or country page it's on.

Check out these views of Lauderdale Marina in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. This one of the intracoastal dock is the best -- it allows users to pan around and check the area out. The cams of the fuel deck and the west entrance are OK, but not very exciting. I also can't tell how updated they are ... but at least they're all crisp and clear.

Think the Loch Ness monster is a hoax? Maybe so, but this cam claims to capture the beast now and then. It appears to be updated, but the quality is pretty grainy and a bit boring, despite the seemingly pretty view. Maybe it's just washed out right now ...

This cam, in San Juan Island, Wash., boasts views of Orca whales. The large view is a little blurry and is missing a time stamp, but it's very pretty -- I imagine sunsets are amazing here. In my short viewing time, I was not able to see a whale, but maybe you'll have better luck.

Since our previous Ocean Beach, Calif., cams seem to have disappeared, here's another one -- and this one's controllable. You can zoom right in on people enjoying the rays and the waves. The words "OB CAM" over the image are a bit annoying, but if you can ignore them, you'll have a fine time roaming the beach.

Here are a couple views of the striped Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, N.C. These images don't have time stamps, but I see no evidence that they're outdated, so I'll trust 'em. The cams are of solid quality, and the lighthouse alone is worth the click.
