POSTED: 3:13 pm CDT August 6, 2008

(Sports Network) - The New England Revolution announced on Wednesday that forward Pat Noonan has re-signed with Major League Soccer and has been traded to the Columbus Crew in exchange for allocation money and the Crew's natural first-round selection in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.

The teams also agreed to switch positions in the current 2008 allocation standings and agreed to considerations regarding the 2009 allocation rankings. New England moves into the third spot and Columbus to 10th place in the current allocation rankings with this trade.

Noonan, 28, has played all of the 2008 calendar year in Norway with Aalesund of the Norweigian Premier League after joining the team on a free transfer from MLS in January.

He played five seasons for the Revs after being drafted in the first round (ninth overall) by the team in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft. Noonan appeared in 119 games in New England, starting 110, and scored 37 goals and added 29 assists while helping the team reach three consecutive MLS Cup championship matches. He left the club ranked third in both career goals and career assists.
