Twins' Gardenhire Returns To Clubhouse

POSTED: 4:30 pm CDT May 8, 2008

(Sports Network) - Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire returned to the clubhouse on Thursday after missing five games due to the death of his brother, Mike Gardenhire, on May 1.

The return didn't last long for the manager, as he was ejected in the bottom of the sixth inning by home plate umpire Doug Eddings.

Mike Gardenhire, 55, unexpectedly passed away at his Oklahoma home, and the Twins' manager immediately left the team to be with his family in his hometown of Okmulgee, OK. The funeral took place on Tuesday.

Ron Gardenhire was expected to return Wednesday, but the weather delayed his flight out of Tulsa, OK.

Third-base coach Scott Ullger managed the club to a 4-1 record in the skipper's absence.
