St. Paul, MN -- (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Wild re-signed rehabbing defenseman Kurtis Foster to a one-year contract, president and general manager Doug Risebrough announced Wednesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Foster, 26, fractured his left femur back on March 19 at San Jose and missed the remainder of the season.

With a little more than five minutes gone in the second period, Foster was chasing after the puck toward the endboards with San Jose's Torrey Mitchell. Foster got tangled up, dipped below the glass, and hit the boards with full- force. Mitchell received a minor tripping penalty on the play.

Foster recorded seven goals and 19 points in 56 games last season.

Originally selected by Calgary in the second round (40th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Foster has 20 goals and 51 assists in 176 career games with Atlanta and Minnesota.
