2008 Minneapolis, MN -- (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed forward Kevin Love, the team announced Friday. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.Love, who earned Pac-10 Player of the Year honors in his only season at UCLA, was selected fifth overall by the Grizzlies in last month's draft before being traded to Minnesota that night in an eight-player deal that sent third overall pick O.J. Mayo to Memphis. "We're really excited to bring a player and person of Kevin's caliber into our franchise," said Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale. "He brings a lot to our team both defensively and offensively and will be a great fit with the talented young players on our roster." Love was a consensus first team All-American for the Bruins last season after averaging 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game as UCLA advanced to its third straight Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. The 6-foot-10 forward was also a finalist for the Naismith and Wooden awards and set UCLA single-season freshman records for points (681) and rebounds (415).
