After coming back to draw the U.S. men’s national teamWales returns to action against an Iran side that was humbled by England to open Group B play at the 2022 World Cup.

Team Melli fell 6–2, dropping all three points and putting itself into a considerable goal-differential hole in the process. Wales, meanwhile, secured a 1–1 draw in its opener against the Americans thanks to Gareth Bale’s late penalty kick. Given that the U.S. plays later Friday and has just that one point, a Wales win in this match would put considerable pressure on the U.S. to get something out of its showdown vs. England or risk going into the final day of group play with a mountain to climb to get out of it.
